The New York Opera Studio is dedicated to helping artists move
from conventional voice education to the professional operatic
stage. Designed for the singer who is already studying vocal
technique and committed to a professional career, the New York
Opera Studio helps young artists bridge the gap between conventional
voice education and the professional operatic stage. It is set
up as an "open conservatory", offering classes and
workshops taught by some of the finest names in opera and theater.
These classes include the Castel's popular "duo-master
class" Making It Professional as well as a Role Study Class
where singers study a complete operatic roles; Singers Showcase
class where singers obtain performance experience; as well as
classes in Musical Interpretation, the International Phonetic
Alphabet, Spanish Lyric Diction and Vocal Repertoire and Acting,
Artistry and the Creative Process for Singers. In addition to
classes and programming in New York, the NYOS offers a 10-day
summer intensive young artist program for singers at Vassar
